Just a really great high-collab server with a fantastic community!
As I'm writing this, Golden Age is in its 15th season, so there are several viewpoints from multi-season veterans of this server - go read those as well!
This is my third season playing on Golden Age - it started great and only gets better with time! The server is slightly modded for a very high-collab experience where everyone is significantly dependent on other players, and the meteor is scheduled for 60 days. This server has the opposite of "QoL mods" - e.g. running speed is slowed down in order to increase demand for tailors' footwear. Many of the recipe modifications are developed by the admins to synergize with other mods or aspects of the game. This experience keeps players coming back time after time for the fresh challenge.
The admins are dedicated, proactive, hands-off, and accessible. While they are present in the game most of the time, they take on 0-1 skills each season, and never practice it to any significant degree - they might contribute 5% of the overall products from the skill. Instead, they focus on their admin duties of keeping the server running, fixing and testing their mods for each new build of Eco, and moderating any issues players may have. I've seen pondobruin85 gently and patiently moderate 3-4 folks over the past 3 seasons, and am really impressed with his dedication to a positive, inclusive, and welcoming play experience for everyone.
Between the high-collab experience, and the admin approach to moderation, we have an amazing community of lovely people who enjoy working with each other to build fun, inventive things and learn new things (like civics) along the journey to shooting down the meteor. Come check it out!
